REVIEWS

"Foremost among these oddities is the abrupt tonal shift between the heartbreaking first half dominated by Musgrave’s riveting psychotic breakdown..."
-Philip Brandes,  Los Angeles Times

"Most impressive of all is Musgrave’s gut-wrenching take on marital madness, the Road Theater company member digging so deep into a husband’s jealous if deluded rage that the redemption offered Lenny by Wright-via-Shakespeare proves all the more deeply affecting."
-Steven Stanley,  StageSceneLA.com

"Tom Musgrave (Leonard) was a strange blend of the comical and tragic, and this made his personal journey throughout the story all the more real."
-Samantha Simmonds-Ronceros,  NOHOArtsDistrict.com
Loosely based on Shakespeare’s “A Winter’s Tale,” “MELISSA ARCTIC” is a fiercely dramatic and delightfully romantic play with songs. Two old childhood friends are separated by fear and mistrust until tragedy strikes, setting into motion a series of choices and coincidences that reveal, as one character says, “There are forces at work.” Winner of Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play, this magical story of art, redemption and love is the Road’s latest collaboration with Craig Wright (TV’s Tyrant, Six Feet Under, Lost, United States of Tara, and more).

REVIEWS

"...Paul (Tom Musgrave), a hilariously silent walk-in stranger, all out of modern screwball territory."
- David C. Nichols, Los Angeles Times

"The best moments come in the first act when Hugh is visited in his studio by the stranger Paul, in a sprightly performance by Tom Musgrave"
- Lyle Zimskind, LAist

"Tom Musgrave and Zachary Mooren, doing a lovely vaudeville duo"
- Steven Leigh Morris, LA Weekly

"Tom Musgrave and Zachary Mooren are riotously fearless!"
- Pat Taylor, Tolucan Times

"Two of my favorite characters were Paul played by Tom Musgrave and Paul's  friend played by Zachary Mooren. They excelled at fast pace comedy and wit."
- Nancy Bianconi, NoHoArtsDistrict.com
